St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha pitched eight no-hit innings in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Colin Moran ended Wacha's bid for history in the ninth with a line drive single to right.

Wacha has been a peculiar player to say the least. He has shown the potential to be a top of the rotation arm, but injuries have always seemed to slow him down in past years.

After a down season in 2017 in which Wacha had a win-loss record of 12-9 and an ERA of 4.13 - and an injury-riddled 2016 season where he went 7-7 with an ERA over 5 - he has been fantastic thus far in 2018. After 12 starts, he owns a 7-1 record and boasts a 2.41 ERA. Wacha is showing that he can return to or even surpass his 2015 self where he was an All-Star and went 17-7 with a 3.38 era.

The Cardinals have missed the postseason the last two years and hope to not make it three in a row.

One thing can be said though, St. Louis has been in need of another good pitcher to go along with Carlos Martinez to solidify that number two spot. With Miles Mikolas also battling for that title, can Wacha prove to be that guy instead come October?

What do you think? Has Michael Wacha turned a corner? Is he a legitimate front-end starter for St. Louis? Give us your opinion in the comments.
