This week the Los Angeles Angels will take on the Boston Red Sox in a three-game series. The Angels have a tough road to the playoffs ahead of them sitting 11 games back from the Houston in the AL West. The Red Sox are tied for first in heated battle with the New York Yankees for the AL East.

This week's probable pitching matchups look like this: Tuesday John Lamb (0-0) face David Price (8-5), Wednesday will have Andrew Heaney (4-5) against Rick Porcello (9-3), and Thursday will feature Jaime Barria (5-3) versus Steven Wright (2-1).

Los Angeles Angels

The story for the Angels coming into this year was Shohei Ohtani and started out looking great as did the Angels. He also injured his UCL and when he went down so did the Angels. One constant through the years for the Angels has been Mike Trout. So far this season he has done everything you would expect of him hitting .325, 23 HR's, and 48 RBI's. These numbers have helped carried the Angels as they are 13th in batting average (.248) and tenth in runs scored. Some other offensive contributors are Albert Puljos and Justin Upton.

The Angels Pitching staff has been full of injuries with Ohtani, JC Ramirez, Matt Shoemaker, Nick Tropeano, and Blake Wood all on the disabled list. The Angels will need to depend on Barria and Heaney have done well for the Angels this year with ERA's of 3.40 and 3.43 respectively.

The wildcard for this series will be Lamb who in his first start only went 3.1 innings giving up three earned runs and followed it up with another start where he went five innings and only gave up two earned runs. Lamb will look to get his first win tonight.

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox have been a tough team to face this year. They are in first place in batting average (.264) and second in runs scored. The offense has been led by Mookie Betts who at one point this year was controversially thought to be better than Mike Trout. Betts leads this team with a .338 batting average and also has 19 HR's this year. Andrew Benintendi and JD Martinez also have made a huge impact on this offense.

This weeks matchup will feature two of the three best starters in Boston. Rick Porcello and David Price have been solid with 3.44 and 3.81 ERA's this season respectively. Steven Wright will be looking to bounce back against a tough start in his last game against the Seattle Mariners where he gave up ten hits, 2 walks, and ten earned runs in 3.1 innings.

Keys to success

The Angels will need some offensive help outside of Mike Trout and Justin Upton. In Game 1 of the series, they will need to give Lamb some run support in order to give them a chance in it.

The Red Sox need to keep the offense rolling and get Steven Wright back on track this series.

Final Thoughts

This game will feature two of the best teams of the American League. All three games will be played in the evening around 7 PM EST and will be played on the regional networks.
