Monday Morning Recap: July 2, 2018

Jon Gray, the would be ace of the Colorado Rockies and opening day starter, was optioned down to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Gray is 7-7 on the year with a 5.77 ERA. Gray's struggles this season come to a bit of a surprise as he posted solid numbers in 2016 and had even better numbers in an injury-shortened 2017 campaign.

The Rockies currently sit just under .500 in a tough NL West division and would definitely welcome a sharper Gray back to the rotation as they make a push for the playoffs in a few months.
